How to Defeat Mad Tiger in Black Myth: Wukong?

Mad Tiger is a formidable boss encounter in Black Myth: Wukong, hidden within Chapter 2. This guide will walk you through the process of summoning Mad Tiger, strategies to defeat him, and the rewards you’ll earn upon victory.

Mad Tiger Location

To face Mad Tiger, you first need to defeat the “Tiger’s Acolyte” chief to obtain the Old-Rattle Drum. This drum is key to unlocking the Mad Tiger fight, which requires you to use it at three specific locations.

How to Use the Old-Rattle Drum

  1. Yellow Wind Formation > Windseal Gate: Start from the shrine and take the path to the left. After crossing a bridge, turn left into a side area where the screen will take on a gray hue, indicating that you can interact with the environment to use the Old-Rattle Drum.
  2. Yellow Wind Formation > Windrest Hamlet: From the Windrest Hamlet shrine, turn around, descend the stairs, and pass through the gate. Explore the side of the village where some Withered Corpse enemies are sitting. Here, you can use the Old-Rattle Drum again.
  3. Sandgate Village > Village Entrance: In Sandgate Village, where you previously fought the chief “Earth Wolf,” explore the village’s corner to find another spot to use the Drum. This action triggers a cutscene. Afterward, jump into the well to initiate the secret fight with Mad Tiger.

Strategy for Defeating Mad Tiger

Mad Tiger is an aggressive and fast-moving boss, capable of dealing significant damage with his attacks. However, his lower health pool makes him vulnerable to a well-executed strategy.

Preparation

  1. Use Buffing Medicines: Before entering the fight, buff yourself with “Tiger Subduing Pelters” to increase your attack power and “Evil Repelling Medicament” to boost your defense. These enhancements will give you a better chance of surviving and dealing heavy damage.
  2. Master Transformation: Begin the fight by using your Transformation ability. This will allow you to unleash powerful heavy attacks on Mad Tiger right from the start.

Combat Tactics

  • Start with Heavy Attacks: As soon as the fight begins, activate your Transformation and deliver a series of heavy attacks. This should significantly reduce Mad Tiger’s health.
  • Use Immobilize and Spells: Once your Transformation ends, immediately use the Immobilize spell to freeze Mad Tiger in place. Follow up with the “A Pluck of Many” spell to deal additional damage.
  • Quick-Attack Combos: After dealing the initial heavy blows, switch to quick-attack combos to chip away at the remaining health. Mad Tiger’s aggressive nature means you’ll need to stay on the move, dodging his attacks while landing your own.
  • Heal When Necessary: It’s crucial to keep your health above half during this fight. If you fall below 50% health, heal immediately, as Mad Tiger can potentially kill you in just one or two hits if your health is low.
  • Wait for Immobilize Recharges: If you don’t defeat him in the first wave of attacks, bide your time, dodging his moves while waiting for your Immobilize spell to recharge. Once it’s ready, use it again to create another window for attack.

Respawn Advantage

One advantage in this fight is that if you die, you’ll respawn right outside the boss arena at the “Bottom of the Well” shrine. This allows you to quickly jump back into the battle without losing much progress.

Rewards for Defeating Mad Tiger

Defeating Mad Tiger will earn you the following rewards:

  • 1029 Will: This currency can be used to upgrade your character’s abilities and equipment.
  • 1x Stone Spirit: A valuable material used for crafting and enhancing items.
  • 1x Yaoguai Core: A rare item used in creating powerful gear.
  • Blood of the Iron Bull (Material): Essential for upgrading certain armor sets.
  • Mad Tiger (Spirit): A unique spirit that may be crucial for future encounters or game progression.

Mad Tiger is a tough but manageable boss in Black Myth: Wukong. By preparing adequately and following the outlined strategy, you can overcome this challenge and earn valuable rewards. Equip your best gear, use your buffs wisely, and stay on the offensive to emerge victorious in this hidden battle.
