In the mystical world of Black Myth: Wukong, players will encounter numerous challenges and quests that lead to powerful rewards. One of the most intriguing side quests involves the Treasure Hunter NPC, who guides you toward a secret encounter with the elusive boss known as the “Green-Capped Martialist.” Successfully completing this quest will reward you with the powerful spell, “Spell Binder.” Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you through this adventure in Chapter 3.
Step 1: Locate and Assist the Treasure Hunter
Location: Chapter 3 > Bitter Lake > North Shore of the Bitter Lake
Your first task is to locate the Treasure Hunter. Start by traveling to the North Shore of the Bitter Lake in Chapter 3. As you explore the area, you’ll come across a temple where three enemies are attacking an NPC. Engage and defeat these foes to rescue the NPC, who will reveal himself as the Treasure Hunter. Ensure you exhaust all dialogue options when speaking with him to progress the quest. If you have already advanced too far in the story, the Treasure Hunter may no longer be at this location. In that case, proceed directly to Step 2.
Step 2: Reunite with the Treasure Hunter and Cast Ring of Fire
Location: Chapter 3 > Valley of Ecstasy > Forest of Felicity
The Treasure Hunter relocates to the Forest of Felicity within the Valley of Ecstasy. From the Forest of Felicity shrine, pass through the gate in front of you, then descend the left side into a lower area. Continue toward the “Towers of Karma” shrine, where you will find the Treasure Hunter perched on a tree. He will call out, asking for warmth. Equip the spell “Ring of Fire” at the nearby shrine, then stand in front of him and cast the spell. This action will trigger a cutscene where the Treasure Hunter warms himself by the fire. Speak to him three times, exhausting all dialogue options. He will then hint at the next destination: a Melon Field shrine nearby.
Step 3: Discover the Melon Field Shrine
Location: Chapter 3 > Valley of Ecstasy > Forest of Felicity
From the Forest of Felicity shrine, head toward the gate but do not enter. Instead, descend the slope on the right side of the gate. Follow this path down to a pond or flooded area. To the right of the pond, you’ll spot three enemies near the cliffs. After defeating them, drop down the cliff where they stood. At the bottom, you will discover the “Melon Field” shrine, marked by a large Buddha statue. Approaching the statue will trigger the boss battle against the Treasure Hunter, who now reveals himself as the “Green-Capped Martialist.”
Step 4: Defeat the Green-Capped Martialist
Prepare yourself for a challenging fight against the Green-Capped Martialist. His combat style is swift and unpredictable, requiring you to be agile and precise. Use all the skills and spells at your disposal to overcome this formidable foe.
Once victorious, your reward will be the powerful spell “Spell Binder” which will significantly enhance your abilities for future encounters.
The Treasure Hunter quest in Black Myth: Wukong is more than just a simple side mission; it is an adventure that takes you through different regions, culminating in a thrilling boss battle. By following this guide, you’ll be well on your way to acquiring the Spell Binder spell and further mastering the game’s intricate combat mechanics.
