In Black Myth: Wukong, the Whiteclad Noble is a formidable adversary that marks one of the first truly challenging encounters in the game. This two-phase boss fight will test your patience, reflexes, and strategic planning. With the right preparation and understanding of his attack patterns, you can bring down this swift and deadly foe.
Preparing for the Battle
Before facing the Whiteclad Noble, it’s essential to ensure you are well-prepared. By this point, you should have gathered a few key resources and upgrades:
- Spirits: Spirits like the Wandering Wight can be invaluable for both damage and support during the fight.
- Transformation: Having unlocked a transformation from defeating Guangzhi can provide you with a significant power boost.
- Immobilize Spell: This spell is crucial for creating openings to deal damage. Maximize your Spark allotment into the left arm of this spell.
- Pilgrim’s Garb Set: Equipping four items from this set grants an attack damage boost when sprinting, which can turn the tide of the battle.
- Robust Constitution and Wrathful Escalation: Invest in these to maximize your health and critical hit chances.
Additionally, make sure to upgrade your Gourd at the wise master in Bamboo Grove for better healing capabilities.
Phase 1: Dodging and Countering
The Whiteclad Noble is known for his speed and devastating attacks. His attacks are telegraphed with long wind-up animations, giving you a brief window to react. The key to survival in the first phase is mastering your dodge timing. When the Whiteclad Noble leaps at you, wait until the last moment to dodge sideways, avoiding his attack.
Once he lands, immediately use the Immobilize spell to pin him down and unleash a flurry of attacks. If your timing is right, you’ll deal significant damage. Following this, shift into the Red Tides transformation. However, be cautious—while this form grants increased power, it also makes you more vulnerable to being staggered. The Whiteclad Noble becomes more aggressive during this phase, so prioritize dodging his attacks while landing light blows. When the opportunity arises, perform a powerful heavy attack (dodge + heavy) to deal massive damage.
When you revert to your monkey form, continue the assault with light attacks and another Immobilize spell as soon as it’s ready. The goal is to push the Whiteclad Noble into his second phase.
Phase 2: The Serpent Emerges
In the second phase, the Whiteclad Noble transforms into a water serpent, gaining new attacks and maintaining his rapid movement. Although his moves are different, they are still telegraphed, giving you time to dodge and counter. At this stage, your objective is to chip away at his health while waiting for your spells to recharge.
Once Immobilize is available, cast it and unleash a relentless series of attacks. If your Red Tides transformation is nearly ready, you can kite the serpent around the arena to buy time. Alternatively, your Spirit attack can be a game-changer, dealing significant damage from a safe distance—especially useful if you have the Wandering Spirit.
Remember to sprint during the fight if you’re wearing the Pilgrim’s Garb, as this will charge up your attack damage boost. Time your attacks wisely and stay on the move to avoid getting overwhelmed.
Claiming Victory
After a grueling battle, defeating the Whiteclad Noble rewards you with the Jade Fang, a valuable item used to upgrade your staff into the Twin Serpents variant. With this powerful upgrade in hand, you’re now ready to continue your journey and explore the many challenges that Black Myth: Wukong has in store.
Good luck, and may your journey be filled with victories!
