Before its early access release on June 7th, the video game Bodycam was one of the most anticipated titles on Steam, largely due to the apparent realism of its graphics. Last year, a similar game concept caught our attention: Unrecord, which shares many commonalities with Bodycam. Both games are developed by French studios, pioneers in offering such a concept. After spending several hours playing Bodycam, I can provide a more detailed insight.
The hyper-realism extends into gameplay. Beyond the challenge of spotting enemies, aiming through the scope takes time, as it’s difficult to know where your weapon is pointed without it. A single bullet is enough to take down any opponent, and it’s often impossible to determine where it came from. There are no replays, and no live tracking of what’s happening on the battlefield.
In short, Bodycam is an ultra-realistic competitive shooter in the making, capturing reality with all its strengths and flaws. For those interested, it’s already available on PC in early access since June 7th.
