I played the first Rebellion when I was younger and really enjoyed it, so I never expected to see a sequel one day. Imagine my surprise when I spotted Rebellion 2 among the new releases on Steam!
After buying and playing it, I can definitely say it brings back the same feelings, and even better! There are plenty of quality-of-life improvements, like a dynamic planet system that changes your movement paths and distances from your empire—a mechanic I haven’t seen in other space-themed strategy games, yet it feels so natural once you’re in the game.
In an era where sequels often don’t live up to their predecessors, this one really nailed it! I think it might be because some of the original team members are still involved, and I’m confident the game will continue to improve over time.
As a bonus, the graphics are great, allowing you to really appreciate the ship designs when you take a moment to zoom in.
